Centre mIDFIELD

A left-footed and possession-based defensive midfielder who looks to use her technical ability and leadership to control the pace and flow of the game. Loving to play in tight spaces and out from the back, her ultimate strength is her composure under pressure. In the second and final thirds, she utilises her passing vision to create goal-scoring opportunities.

I am writing to offer my whole hearted support of Ella Hughes in her pursuit of a soccer scholarship in the US. Having worked with Ella across two seasons now, firstly within the pathway of the Women’s Championship side Lewes FC and currently Oxford United who are in Tier 3 of the UK Women’s pyramid, I can attest to her character strengths and performance abilities. Ella has been part of and performing at a high level of youth football for a number of seasons and been exceptionally committed even in the face of lengthy travel times during key educational milestones. This season, she has been dual signed with a senior team in Tier 5 to continue to help her bridge the gap between youth and senior performance - the coaches that work with her in these environments are always complimentary of her attitude, application and work rate on and off the pitch. She has been a member of leadership teams both at Lewes FC and Oxford United thanks to her maturity, perceptiveness and ability to build relationships with those around her - teammates and coaches. On the pitch, Ella’s strength is line breaking passes, ball striking and remaining composed under pressure. We are working with Ella on applying her physicality more and more but as a good reader of the game she is rarely caught out of position. Ella is a player and person you can rely on to lead by example, be consistent in her application and pursuit of developing herself across the spectrum of performance. I would be happy to be contacted should any parties wish to discuss Ella’s application for their institute.
— Kerri Coombs - Oxford United Head of Girls Football
Ella is a hard working student that dedicates her time efficiently to her studies. Her passion for maths is clear in the classroom, and she goes above and beyond to ensure that she fully understands new concepts and how they link to previous knowledge.

Ella is thorough in her studies and ensures she completes tasks effectively. This has enabled her to be successful in her school career and will ensure that going forward she has all the skills to be successful.

Finally, Ella has great time management. Studies are completed on time, and to an excellent quality while managing other commitments.
