GOALKEEPER
A modern-day goalkeeper with the ability and confidence to use the ball with either foot, both short and long distance. He demonstrates knowledgeable positional and game awareness, allowing him to be an integral and active part of the team’s set up and style of play. Excellent, clean handling in all situations calms the mindset of those around him, whilst his shot-stopping and reflex-related attributes contribute to being a proficient obstacle for opposition forwards in both 1v1 and shots from distance or close range. I have known Jacob for 5 years, and have coached him for the duration of that time privately. Jacob shows a great work ethic and enthusiasm towards his role as a goalkeeper. He has a want to keep the ball out of the net, and a platform from which to build and grow as a goalkeeper. In possession, Jacob shows a good level through a variety of different passing techniques he can execute as well as being able to play over longer distances. When defending the goal, Jacob is a capable shot stopper and shows his ability in 1v1 situations by both body shape and courage. He, through exposure and game experience, is improving all the time from wide ball situations particularly flat balls into the box, and this is something he has worked hard at in line with sporting trends, to become better at. All in all, Jacob has an infectious personality, one suited to the position, and a platform from which to build and develop into an excellent goalkeeper in the future.
