“My name is Siobhan Hodgetts-Still & I am the West Bromwich Albion Women’s Head Coach. I had the pleasure in coaching Kat at West Bromwich Albion u16s. When I then went to coach the West Bromwich Albion Development team Kat trained and played in several games. Kat has a great attitude; she is coachable and always wants to better herself. She was a key player in our dressing room, she was a leader within the group. Kat was a versatile attacking player; she could play as a wide player and a centre forward. Her physical attributes and 1v1 ability on the ball made her a threat in wide areas. She was confident Infront of goal and can finish both left and right foot. Here are some key strengths of Kats across the four-corner model:
Technical – Kat is confident is using both feet, Kat travels with the ball well at speed, positive when 1v1 and can go on the inside and outside which makes it hard to defend against, positive Infront of goal and the ability to finish with a variety of finishes.
Physical - good physical attributes, speed over short/long distances, powerful, competes individually to win individual duels.
Social – good attitude and work ethic at training and away from football, good person, coachable, team player.
Psychological – Committed to the game and her own development. Communicates well within a group to staff and players, gets involved in team discussions.”
“Kat is an attacking player who played a prominent role in a very successful Derby County development side who won the national development league during her time at the club, during the 2023/2024 season. Her positive performances led to 3 first-team appearances at Tier 3 for the Derby County Women 1st Team, aged just 17 years old. Kat is an intelligent player who can play anywhere in an attacking role. She is a hard-working, team-first player who can contribute positively to a number of systems. When in a wide-forward role, Kat possesses the skill, ability and positivity to beat players. She can cross with quality and has an excellent left foot, whilst also being able to use her right foot effectively. Kat arrives intelligently into goal-scoring positions and has scored a number of goals by doing so. Kat strikes a ball well and has scored numerous long-range efforts. Kat does this particularly well when operating as a false 9/10, as she receives the ball well on the half-turn and always aims to be positive when in the final third. Kat takes dangerous set pieces with pace on the delivery. She is also an adept penalty taker. Kat is strong, fast and fit. She has the physical capabilities to play senior football. On a personal note, Kat is an excellent teammate and an intelligent person who will strive to impress her coaching staff and teammates.”
“I first met Kat as an opposition player while at Coventry United. A young skilful winger with an eye for goal. Needless to say my team had to stop her! She also played as a striker and caused teams lots of problems with her tenacity and skilfulness. We were then lucky enough to work with Kat as a coach via the West Midlands County for two years at u16s. She played both seasons in a strong side and won the league both seasons with us. She was top scorer in her second season. As a player to work with Kat takes on everything you ask her to do and is always looking to improve asking for extra advice and feedback. She is also very knowledgeable within different systems as well because at county level we play multiple ways. She is a great team player and always will offer to take kit etc in as well. A sociable member of the team and within the dressing room. Kat will be an asset to any of her teams in the future and I wish her all the very best in her next steps.”
