“I have had the pleasure of coaching Sophie Afshar since 2021 and I can confidently say she is an exceptional individual with a strong desire to succeed and a commitment to holistic development. Sophie’s likeable personality and passionate nature make her a joy to work with and her infectious energy often makes her the life and soul of the group. These qualities have enabled Sophie to naturally influence those around her, fostering positive team dynamics and consistently stepping into leadership roles both on and off the pitch. Her hard work, dedication and unwavering determination are rare qualities and I feel privileged to have coached a player with such drive and potential. Any team would be fortunate to have Sophie as part of their setup.”
“Sophie has a proactive approach to her academics and is also keen to explore the super-curricular surrounding her subject areas, in particular in PE. Given her extensive commitments to soccer outside of the classroom, this has been pleasing to see and clearly she can balance and organise her time efficiently. Sophie clearly has a vested interest in sport and its place in society. She is a dedicated student who works hard outside of the classroom and is achieving great results for this early into her academic courses. She responds well to feedback and evidently reads beyond the curriculum to strengthen her overall knowledge. Sophie is an ambassador in school, frequently stepping up to help in school events and tutors younger students. She will be an incredible asset to any institution.”
“Sophie is a tall, intelligent and technical player who, in the time I have been fortunate enough to coach her, has learned and mastered a number of positions. Starting as a striker and wide attacker, Sophie has also proven adept at playing in the middle and in defence – the latter of which is where she has really started to shine recently as a centre back. She is calm and composed on the ball and has excellent ball striking. Her ability to understand multiple positions makes her an effective defender as she understands what her opponent is trying to do, as well as the how and the why, and can combat this effectively. She has been effective playing both age group and adult football despite her tender years. Sophie is a diligent and hard-working player, who always gives her all. She is an exemplary teammate who is always popular in the group and leads by example. In fact, this was the reason we never hesitated in giving her the arm band. Sophie is very coachable, keen to take information on board and actively asks questions to try and improve. I have no hesitation in recommending her for any college programme.”
“I had the pleasure of coaching Sophie for 3 seasons. Over this time I witnessed her grow on and off the pitch due to her positive attitude and determination. She is a very polite and respectful young lady who sets high standards for herself and those around her. Sophie is also a great learner who will respond positively to feedback as she looks for ways to better herself. On the pitch, Sophie’s composure and game understanding makes her a valuable asset to any side. She leads by example, supporting and encouraging all of those around her. Sophie continues to show maturity well beyond what would be expected for her age and I have no doubt Sophie will continue to go from strength to strength.”
