We are thrilled to announce that Soccer Assist client Markus Payne has secured his place and has committed to Lassen Community College in California. Hailing from Great Yarmouth, the former Norwich City youth player will be joining the Lassen Community College Men’s soccer roster this fall.
Markus approached Soccer Assist with the desire to use his footballing talent to provide him with a soccer opportunity in the U.S. The young forward has an almost identical sporting background to MLS star and former student-athlete Dom Dwyer. Both players were failed by the Norwich City football academy, resulting them to look for other football opportunities and discovered the U.S. scholarship route. Dwyer was drafted into the Major Soccer League after studying at Tyler Junior College and the University of South Florida. Markus is hoping to emulate this journey whilst out in the United States.
Markus is an energetic forward who likes to attack the goal at every possible chance. When describing his playing style Marcus states ‘I love to be in tight situations as my ball control is a huge strength of mine! My number one thought everytime I receive the ball is to run at the opposition with pace! I do like to help out defensively because football is all about teamwork’.
The Lassen Cougars head coach, Imaan M Kerchgani, says ‘Really interested in Markus, his ability and passion will go a long way.’ Markus is heading out to the California junior college this fall to join the Coach Kerchgani and the Cougars.
