We are thrilled to announce that Soccer Assist client Lewis Wood has secured his place and committed to the Coastal Bend College on a partial scholarship. Hailing from London, the Brentford Elite U19s central midfielder will be joining Coastal Bend College Men’s soccer roster this fall.
Lewis tells us that he has been playing soccer from a young age, he had many successful years of youth football, having been involved in an elite set up for multiple clubs. Lewis tells SA that he moved to Brentford Elite U19s, where he has been playing as a central Midfielder.
When speaking on his playing style Lewis states, he is ‘a strong player both mentally and physically, who is a box to box centre midfielder. I am a powerful player who drives his team forward with the ball. A consistent performer who always will give 8/10 performances each time he steps onto the pitch. A player who can play many roles on the pitch, who breaks up play fantastically and has great awareness on the pitch.’
Coastal Bend College men’s head coach, Brian Byrd, is excited at the idea of another British prospect joining his heavily British roster. Coach Byrd states, ‘I currently have a solid Scottish defensive midfielder and to have Lewis alongside him would be great.’
Soccer Assist Director, Junior, believes Lewis will make an instant impact in the U.S. and will flourish within his roster. Junior states, ‘We always say how Lewis is one of the most hardworking clients when on the field. He doesn’t stop running and can easily take a special player out the game. He will have a good career!’
