We are very excited to announce that Soccer Assist athlete Kyle Caldwell has secured a place and committed to Carl Sandburg College on a soccer scholarship. Hailing from Weaverham, the former Winsford Colts and Winnington Avenue forward will be joining his new team in America this fall.

Kyle has been invested in the game for all of his life – this is shown through his qualifications as a personal trainer and through his time spent coaching the Weaverham Under 11’s. The target man up front first got his start at Hartford Boys and has played for several clubs since. Most notably, he has had successful spells at Northwich Victoria, Davenham Dynamos and Witton Albion. Kyle can best be described as a hold-up striker, and his play mostly resembles that of Romelu Lukaku.

The college’s head coach, Kevwe Akpore, is thrilled to have Kyle on board and is excited for him to start playing for his team. Kevwe, who has been a staple of the Southern Illinois soccer community for three decades, recognizes the talent in Kyle and will use him effectively in the squad. Kyle is heading to Illinois this August to start his scholarship journey. Have a look at what has impressed the head coach so far:

Kyle attended our Trial Day in Manchester last July and has been blazing a trail ever since. Soccer Assist Director Junior is confident in Kyle’s ability, stating “Kyle has the right attributes to excel in the college game, he’s big and strong and has the right attitude.” We would like to wish Kyle all the best during his time at Carl Sandburg College and we look forward to seeing what he can do next.
